The farmers markets have opened in Bend, and after returning from Paris where the weekly markets run year-round, I am most eager to step back outside, stroll the booths full of food and flowers and so much more and just bask in the beauty and enjoyment of these very community and local farmer focused events.

As well, brocantes. In France, they are regular events as well, and while we didn’t have the chance to visit one last month, I cannot wait to poke around most definitely the next time I return and bring home treasures for Le Papillon’s décor.

While the weather is now warmer, sometimes, when markets are open in the morning (which I love!), the temperatures are still a bit chilly, and if the sun is high, protecting our skin and eyes from being burned is a must with the help of breathable fabrics, brims of hats and thoughtfully layered clothing.

Today I have shopped three different outfits for you, from quite dressed up to dressed-down, but still quite chic. I just love the pink linen blazer in the final outfit and think it would be an ideal signature item to wear with simple, classic items. Pairing a scarf for a subtle accessorization finishes the look, and you will be most comfortable as well searching and finding the many treasures at a favorite brocante. 🙂

  1. Your curation is beautiful ~ thank you! The Wednesday market just started for the season downtown and am headed there for the first time today. So exciting to get ahold of just-picked greens.
Love the fedora recommendation; ordered one this am in the very pale color, and so appreciate your list. Happy Wednesday, and good marketing for all…

    1. PS another lovely tote have been eyeing since last year is the bembien medium margot. Looks beautiful in person, and seems versatile.

    2. Liz G,

Have a wonderful time at the market today! 🙂 And yes, to the fedora! I have been watching Emilia Fox in Signora Volpe and she looks right chic wearing one as she walks around the Italian/Umbria countryside. Have a wonderful day and thank you for stopping by!

  2. Serendipity strikes again !

I picked up a copy of Janine Marsh’s book in our local Hospice Charity shop just last week …….it is called ‘ My Good Life , in pursuit of the Rural Dream ‘ in England.

I also found a copy of Michael Wright’ s ‘ C’est La Folie ‘ …….he used to have a weekly column of the same name in the Telegraph Newspaper ( UK ) describing his move to France with his young family , and their life there .
I think you might enjoy it Shannon, it is reminiscent of the Peter Mayle books about his life in Provence ?

    1. Anne,

Don’t you just love those serendipitous discoveries! The day just becomes so awesome and our smile more abundant. Thank you for the recommendation to explore Michael Wright. I will definitely do that. Ah! And Janine Marsh joined me on the podcast (episode #167) a couple of years ago when her first book came out. Here is the link – https://thesimplyluxuriouslife.com/podcast167/

      Thank you again for sharing!

    2. Anne, thank you so much for the recommendation of Michael Wright’s, ‘C’est La Folie’, it looks like such fun! Here in the US, I was able to find it available, (used), on both Thriftbooks and Amazon, and it’s now parked on one of my lists at Amazon. And of course I ADORE Peter Mayle!
      Thank you much–XO

  3. Beautiful outfits Shannon, I love seeing Reiss in your curations as it is one of my favourite brands to purchase and wear. I have saved the link to the Rondini sandals and the lovely French marker basket – such a good price ! They will be perfect for my trips to Dorset and Cornwall later this year. Merci!
