Welcome to British Week!

What a week we have in store this year!

But first, let’s step foot into London shall we (rest assured, we will also be taking a walk later this week in the English countryside). Below is a brief two minute video to welcome you to the city captured upon my arrival this past October, complete with all the sounds, sirens, chatter (and a bit of wind) that you would expect. ☺️??❤️. Let’s take a watch, even Big Ben will welcome us with a chiming!

Okay, now that we are all on the terra firma of British vicariously, it feels official. ☺️ British Week has arrived!

And what better way than with a hot cuppa in a Burleigh teacup, settled on a tray picked up in Barnard Castle rested atop a vintage find of a stool found in the same quaint antique row in Barney (as the locals often call their home town), and of course, the most important part of this vignette is a pup to snuggle with, and Norman has brought that in spades. ☺️

As it is British Week, I have stocked up on TSLL’s custom ‘A Cuppa Ideas’ notepads, and they are now 10% off, the singles and both of the bundles – 3-pack and the All-Inclusive notepad bundle (five different notepads), all week. No code necessary, simply visit the product page, and the discount is automatically applied. Click here for single notepads and here for the 3-notepad bundle. Shop all notepads here.

I also wanted to share the above pic with you because it hints at what the first giveaway will be. In fact, two TOP Tier Members will be taking home the first giveaway, so let’s get this week started with just that, a very British giveaway.

And lastly, thank you for stopping by to kick off this favorite of weeks here on TSLL. It has become such a celebratory week each year (catch up on all past years’ content on the British Weeks’ page), and this year’s postings will include tours through London hotel accommodations, a detailed intimate tour of my stay at Rita Konig’s North Farm vacation rental, antique shops in the countryside, a tour of a favorite destination for many when they visit the NW countryside, tips on ease of travel when you arrive in London and so much more. In fact, the first two detailed posts that will be shared later today (at least two posts will be shared each day, spaced 12 hours a part, and today, to kick things off – four posts in total will be shared!) I won’t even give a hint, because it is a special visit I quite enjoyed followed by a delicious conclusion. I cannot wait to share.

Now to the first giveaway!

Click here to view the Giveaway post and as giveaways are exclusive to TOP Tier Members (learn more about becoming one here), be sure to consider becoming one if you are not already (you can also purchase a Guest Membership so you can enjoy all of this week’s content including entering the giveaways – for only $10, enjoying one full month and all the TOP Tier membership benefits. It’s non-reoccurring, so it will not renew, unless you would like to).

Here’s to celebrating all things British. Don’t forget your cuppa! ???❤️☺️

    2. So glad you made it Laura.

Although I love TSLL year round, British & French Weeks are the high points.

      Enjoy!

  5. Shannon, what a lovely start to a favourite week, and as a Brit I love seeing my home through your eyes. I actually had a day trip to London yesterday for a theatre visit. It brought back memories of our gorgeous tea as we were in the West End. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us. X

    1. Me too Nicola! What amazing memories. As I looked at all the sights and sounds in the video I decided to make a hot cuppa and rewatch it 🙂

      1. It really typifies London and that typical autumn weather. It was so lovely to meet you Katrina and the other guests. X

    2. Nicola,

How wonderful! Visiting the city for a jaunt of what we most enjoy of its offerings, so happy for you. Now I have to ask, what did you go and see? There are so many lovely plays out there. 🙂 I look forward to sharing this week’s post and my memories bring a smile of the past trip. So enjoyed meeting you and all of the ladies. Look for our tea post later this week. 🙂

      1. We were lucky to get tickets for “Long Day’s Journey into Night” with Brian Cox and Patricia Clarkson. It was a superb performance.

  6. Yey, yey, it`s here! 🙂 I am delighted and looking forward to enjoy everything. Tea with Norman is a wonderful sight. The British Week at TSLL is one of my favourite things – up right there with raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens… 😉

  7. I have been looking forward to enjoying British Week ?? for the first time. Being a newer member, discovering you around the holidays last year was total kismet! I have enjoyed many of the topics you cover for so long in my life & to discover you, Shannon, and your beautiful delivery of this content is pure luxury indeed. ✨

Thank you so much and so very happy that our paths crossed. I do hope you enjoy this special week. It really is both fun to compile and share just as it is for members and readers to connect and celebrate all things British. Cheers!

  8. What better way to kick off British week than to the sounds of Big Ben’s chimes. Having recently adopted a toy poodle, “Gatsby”, my start to the week looks almost just like the image in this post with a hot cuppa and a snuggled in pup. I can’t wait to see all of the posts you have in store for us and journey with you to the Lake District.

    1. Katrina,

So happy for you and your husband with your new family member. (love the name, by the way :)). Thank you for introducing us. Nelle and Norman say hello and welcome!

  15. Oh yay, it’s here! British Week has landed with surprisingly serendipitous timing, as having found a place to stay for a few weeks alone in London this October, I need to set the dates this week! What a fabulous way to start anticipating an upcoming journey, this will make it feel all the more real…thank you Shannon.
(Also, I just finished my TSSL notepad, so that’s perfect timing as well–time for a reorder!)

    1. Liz,

Tickled you are returning to London! No doubt the stay this past October went very well. Such a nice time to be in the city, non? 🙂 Your order is en route! Thank you for joining us as we kick off this special week. Cheers!

  16. Looking forward to all of your posts and content for British Week.
What a beautiful day in the Arrival video!
Thank you for what I am sure will be a fabulous week!

  17. Hello Shannon,
Like so many others I too look forward to British week. I enjoyed revisiting your trip to the UK. I have always loved blue and white ware, and had fun looking at all the possibilities available. I think the blue calico Dutch pitcher 234 would make the perfect container for summer flowers.
    Best wishes
    Susan

  18. Wonderful to see so many new and old-friends on! Thank you, Shannon, for your inspiring, lovely, and contentment-facilitating content all year. Looking forward to this week’s British Week. It’s so very nice to have an event week highlighting all you and the community have to offer. I was just on Burleigh. I hope they are able to generate a matching set of 2 teacups/saucers and teapot. It seems they’re a bit low – fingers crossed – hoping to be able to welcome Burleigh into my home to enjoy a cuppa with you, friends on TSLL, and family/neighbors. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    1. Abigail,

Thank you for your words. I am chuffed to read them and tickled you enjoy the content shared here on TSLL. 🙂 Burleigh is such a beautiful, high quality brand. If you would like to look on Bee’s Knees, they have a wonderful stock of Burleigh to choose from. Enjoy the week! Cheers!

  19. Looking forward to all your posts for British WEEK 2024. I thoroughly enjoyed British Week last year, and I am looking forward to all your posts. I have never been to England, so I will vicariously enjoy it through your eyes.

    1. Paula,

Happy to have you stop by and enjoy the trip this year savored through posts. 🙂 Simply writing these posts detailing my trip makes me feel almost as though I am traveling again. I hope someday you can visit England. You would love the countryside, and of course the offerings of the city of London. Such a special place.

  20. So happy for the return of British Week! It is always so enjoyable and inspiring! Love this first giveaway as well. My choice would be the Blue Arden teacup and saucer. Thank you for your generosity!

  21. Happy British Week!
I am planning to travel to London in October (first time), and I know that I will so enjoy all your postings this week!
Your video was wonderful. Everyone looks forward to this week and your French week as well! Cheers!

  22. Yeah! British Week is here! Shannon, I’m so.. looking forward to all the wonderfulness you always share!? ??

  23. Woohoo I love British and French week. I’m a little late to the (tea) party but I am catching up with all the posts so far. Thank you for all the work you put in to make these weeks so enjoyable, Shannon.
    Sarah

  24. Shannon I’m quite late to the tea party it’s sneaked up on me. For some reason I’ve been having more than my fair share of cuppas this week. Could it be because it’s British (English) week?Feeling quite nostalgic. Seeing your clip has made me realise how much I miss London. I miss hopping on the train and in just over an hour I would be in London for shopping and the theatre all in one day . There’s nowhere else like the West End.
I was in England after Easter but didn’t have time to make a visit so thank you for the reminder. Wishing everyone a lovely week. Enjoy lots of delicious tea and cakes. Kameela?

  25. I am just catching up on British week, as a Brit I loving seeing my country through your eyes, it really helps me appreciate the beauty my country has to offer. I love that it coincides with Chelsea (one of my favourite weeks of the year!) I highly recommend getting to an RHS Flower Show if you can – although it needn’t be Chelsea there are several fabulous shows. I have my feet up, a hot cuppa and a furry companion snuggled on my lap so I’m ready to go!
