Planning ahead for travel in the fall, making sure you have what you need to be comfortable, yet feeling knowing you look your best. Now is the time to enjoy putting these final pieces together so you can enjoy rather than stress when the date to depart nears.

I was reminded of a one-piece style idea while wearing a summer midi-dress from James Perse this summer and discovered they had the same style currently available again, but with long sleeves. I immediately took note as when I travel, I want to be in something jersey-esque, but I am not going wear sweatpants. No, no, no, no, no. 🙂

I have a strong inkling you too, especially if you are in the air for long durations as I am traveling from the west coast of the states to Western Europe, even needing to sleep while you travel, are looking for outfits that fit this bill – comfortable, yet looking sharp and pulled together.

The midi-length of this dress is ideal for travel as you can move about as you need to, yet the slim silhouette with the one-side ruching creates form without feeling squished. I have worn my sleeveless version with and without shapewear, and I would imagine traveling for hours would prompt me to leave the shapewear in my luggage, but it all depends on how comfortable your shapewear is.

Add an extra-fine cashmere scarf or stole for warmth when needed and for style as you travel through terminals, drape a trench over your arm for when you arrive and step out into the elements along with comfortable flats that move and breathe – I love my Rothy nude pointed toe ones and they now have a new style that resembles a Chanel staple (see in the collage). And of course, a great book to become immersed in – The Wren, The Wren will be released this September and was written by a Booker Prize winner, so is much anticipated (the plot of course is what is most fascinating). And three sales of note, one is the on-going Nordstrom Anniversary sale of which both the Barbour trench and the travel Longchamp bags are included and the nourishing lip balm from the French beauty company Chantecaille is currently 25% off (as well as everything else on their site).

The third sale involves the square face watch I wear and have enjoyed wearing for just over a year now, being currently 30% off (all styles and finishes). And one more item of note, tucked into my carry-on is a small toiletry bag, something I picked up last year on sale from Longchamp, but the design is still available and I have appreciated adding this item to my on-flight must-haves. Storing my makeup when I travel, this small leather bag is just the right size, well-made and slim, so it tucks in just about anywhere without a fuss.

Okay, is it fall yet? When does the flight leave? I am ready and so are you! Bon Voyage!

  1. Wonderful ideas, Shannon. I always have my Caudalie ‘eau de beauté ( beauty elixir) for misting my face to stop my skin drying out and to keep my skin looking fresh on arrival. Kameela😊

    1. Good idea Kameela. 🙂 Thank you for sharing. I look forward to packing my travel humidifier this next trip as it is small, quiet and cordless. Anytime of hydration is a good idea as indeed our skin dries out while in the plane.
