Sunday morning on the porch. With the boys. With croissants. With tea.

A gentle breeze, the happy warmth of the sun and well, being home.

Norman and I went on an early morning walk this morning, and I enjoyed listening to an episode of Paname podcast which focused on the Obelisk in Paris and its history (episode #14). I find myself slipping away to France or England whenever I have the opportunity through audio, films or books.

The Fourth of July for me was spent at home with the boys, quietly. I enjoyed watching for the first time Hamilton and delighted in the prescience of so many of the conversations presented on stage that are happening more broadly now throughout our country . . . finally. There were tears, there were cheers, there were ahas, there was joy and appreciation and reminder to keep striving.

One moment in the first half of the play, Angelica Schuyler sings/suggests resolutely why not in the second draft include women in the declaration? Which made me remember to share with you a series you may be interested in viewing which begins tomorrow on PBS focused on the history of women’s suffrage here in America titled The Vote.

And if you are interested in a Francophile film, I can highly recommend La Vérité (The Truth) which I shared on this week’s most recent This & That. I had the opportunity to watch it Friday evening and thoroughly enjoyed the story (and being set in France didn’t hurt either. 😉

Wishing you a lovely Sunday, and thank you for stopping by TSLL. 🙂

  1. Your Sunday weather looks awesome. Here it is cloudy, muggy and extremely oppressive.

Had the highest hopes for La Verite but was left completely disappointed. I’m sure I’m not worldly enough to “get” it.

    1. Everyone has different tastes, and that is completely okay. ? Thank you for stopping by Yanina. Wishing you better weather soon. Hopefully you have a good book or project to cuddle up with inside until it arrives. ?

  2. Shannon, thank you for the suggestion of The Truth. I watched it last night and loved it. I live in Paris half year, and also found it comforting to “be in Paris” given COVID has kept me in the US since March. Your porch, boys and breakfast are lovely reminders to cherish the special moments especially during these very chaotic times. I love your blog.

  3. “Yes, Mom, I AM a good sweet boy,” says Norman. “And that is why you will share your croissant with me!”
What a lovely beginning to your day. Y’all have a beautiful rest of the weekend!

  4. Both porch and breakfast look lovely! Here in Yorkshire it’s raining hard, so your picture of sunshine brightened my morning. Enjoy!

  5. What a beautiful porch! I smile a little bit because from most of your photos I got the idea of you in an isolated house out in the NW wilderness, completely on your own with just the dogs, going out for walks in the middle of nowhere. Come to find out you have neighbors, too! Just goes to show that you can make your own personal heaven anywhere.

    1. Yep, Bend is my home and nature is at our doorstep (walks amongs the trees are 10 minutes away sometimes fewer). We are so fortunate. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by.
