There is something soothing about not only the chosen scent of a candle alight in our chosen cozy special spot in the house, but the sight of a candle glowing on atop tea table, beckoning us to sit down, slow down and be.

Over the years, I have recommended many French candle brands and companies, and one that I have been returning to over the past year or so has been Carrière Frères, a company founded by two brothers in 1884. With a profuse amount of seasonal botanical scents to chose from and carry you throughout the calendar year, Carrière Frères, a subsidiary of the famed Trudon candles, making their candles in the same factory as the well-known and beloved luxury brand. Carrière Frères offers 100% vegetable wax candles, 100% recycle containers, no plastic and all scents pay tribute to botanical research, each “epitomizing the natural biodiversity of the plant kingdom: the scented candles regroup a range of single note like perfumes that include exotic, indigenous and aromatic essences unveiled by 18th century’ botanists and explorers. A contemporary take on a prosperous era of discoveries.”

I first learned of Carrière Frères from My French Country Home Box from Sharon Santoni, receiving the Damask Rose candle. I have since gone on to purchase lavender and sandalwood, and appreciate that the scents are both natural in essence, strong enough to identify and prompt a feeling of repose, but not overwhelming. The packaging and containers as well, with many options to purchase refills so as to continue to use the same container, are simple, yet noteworthy.

If you are looking for a quality French candle without a luxury price (but dream about a Trudon candle), this is the brand to explore. Shop the entire options candles at Carrière Frères here.
