Introverts are finding their voice, and one author and blogger who is helping to make this possible is Jenn Granneman.

With her new book which was just released on August 1st, The Secret Lives of Introverts: Inside Our Hidden World and her internationally enjoyed blog Introvert, Dear, she shares the science, conversations with multiple introverts as well the insights gained from sitting down with researchers in the study of the brain to share the secrets of introverts. Having her on the podcast was a treat as I, as well, self-identify as an introvert. And what was I appreciated was the focus to celebrate on what each of our gifts our, which is something she talks about as well. I do hope you’ll tune in.

  1. Hi Shannon,
    This was excellent and makes me feel less alone, because I am an introvert! However I do love to get together with a select few and have food and drinks, but then the next day…..I’m done and need to be alone and organize things in my home or sort through my clothes and edit etc.
    As always I just love checking in each day to see what you have for us.

  2. I loved this podcast! Thank you so much!! I come from a family of extroverts and married an extrovert. So, I’ve always felt as though I had to keep up and that there was something wrong with me for not wanting to constantly be surrounded by people, for feeling exhausted and worn out after too much interaction, for wanting to stay in on weekend evenings, etc. I have since determined that I identify as an extroverted introvert but this podcast spoke to me! I have a daughter that’s an introvert and the discussion of rewards for extroverts vs introverts was SO eye-opening. I just hung on to every word that was discussed and I’m anxious to get my hands on Jenn’s book! Thank you, thank you!!

I think you demonstrate beautifully the spectrum of introversion and how there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. We are each made a little different, and the key is to acknowledge and embrace our strengths. I think you will absolutely love and appreciate Jenn’s book. Happy reading!

  3. I can’t tell you how much I was blown away by this podcast interview. I’ve always known I’ve been an introvert, but I’m currently refocusing my career and these are the exact struggles I’m going through. Do I want to work solo or with the public? I was a public information officer, and mother to a toddler, I wondered why it was so draining to me. I was in an environment where I hardly had solo time and couldn’t recharge in the evening, so I’ve had to make changes to better my soul. I didn’t know how much I need this book, thanks! I will check it out. (Now that I have more time to figure things out, I’ve been listening to past podcast archives and they are truly helping me get on track with the the me I used to know.) Thanks Shannon!

    1. You are most welcome. I highly recommend checking out (perhaps you already have), Susan Cain’s book – Quiet. This was the book that woke me up to the fact that I was indeed an introvert and finally had a name for it.
