In one week spring will have arrived in the northern hemisphere and that means warmer weather, but still layers are needed. So with that said, each of the four outfits shopped this month keep the shoulders covered, some directly with a short sleeve and others with layers offered from a cotton or silk-blend piece of outerwear.

We’re dressing up a bit in a few of the outfits, but also offering casual components to mix and match to fit the occasion. As well, we are keeping it casual but always chic in the other outfits, and along the way making sure you have complementary accessories and always an intriguing book to pack with you.

Don’t forget to shop TSLL’s Annual Spring Shopping Guide that was just released on March 2nd. I have pulled just one item from that shopping guide (full of 80+ hand-picked finds) to provide an option in the first outfit you will see below, so along with the 80+ items in the guide, today’s outfits add an additional 20 new spring finds to explore to fill those gaps in your spring capsule wardrobe.

Now, let’s get spruced up for spring, shall we? 🙂

    1. Cara,

Good morning and thank you for stopping by TSLL to view the monthly Outfits of the Month.

Part of the reason I shop outfits is to share inspiration and ideas so that you can see what is available to pull together and perhaps spark ideas of what you already have in your closet and then fill in the gaps as necessary and fits into your budget.

On TSLL, investing is part of living well, so you aren’t constantly shopping, the items last and they will look as great on the first day as they do ten years from now. When we look at that pair of jeans from B.C. a luxury Italian brand, you are paying for craftsmanship – and as I shared in episode #376 – Wise Investments: A Good Value vs. A Good Deal – the quality of cotton (fibres used) in the denim, ensure these jeans will fit and last a very long time as opposed to Madewell for example. Cost per Wear puts these jeans at $120 if I wear them only once each year for 10 years and know they look good each time (and I won’t have to be shopping for more jeans in between) – and they will as this brand is a brand I highly trust when looking for high quality items. While the price tag as it is set (it is their new collection) may not fit most people’s budgets (not mine either), when that item goes on sale in a year’s time and you have it booked marked on KarmaNow, you will know it is a savvy purchase and now that it is in one’s budget, know that paying say $600 is a deal and an investment (the latter being the goal).

As well, what someone purchases is their choice, and no judgment on our part is necessary. What I heard in your comment was revealing that this wouldn’t be your choice, and that is absolutely your choice to make. When we honor our choices, we give freedom to both ourselves and others to do the same and thus live with more calm.

I have also addressed this question of why I include investment items vs. budget items in the outfit posts in the FAQ and you can view that here. https://thesimplyluxuriouslife.com/faq/

If you have any other questions, I am happy to answer them and look forward to your comments in the future. Please remember to ensure they meet the norms of TSLL – kind, helpful and true.

Wishing you a wonderful day. 🙂

      Shannon

  1. Hi, Shannon… Thanks for another beautiful Outfits post. While I’m now on a limited budget, I’m always inspired by the ensembles. I’ve found over the years that shopping creatively is more fun and satisfying than spending a lot of money (having been in a position to do both at different times in my life). There are wonderful thrift and consignment stores where you can find quality clothing in great shape, and I enjoy the hunt. I may not always find the item at the top of my list, but very often I find a great piece that does fill a “want”. And sometimes I find a beautiful and very unusual piece that speaks to me and can’t be found anywhere else. And I do sometimes purchase an item you’ve listed, when – like the perfect white shirt – it’s not something that holds up second-hand. So, thank you again for the inspiration, et chacun ses goûts, pas vrai ? xo

    1. Pamela,

      Oui! C’est vrai et important ! 🙂

Thank you so much for sharing your approach and experience. You share a wonderful reminder that consignment and thrift shops indeed hold wonderful treasures. I truly provide the outfits as a source of inspiration knowing that IF you purchase, you will not be disappointed, but I don’t ever expect readers to ever purchase the entire outfit and perhaps only one thing if that. Sharing what is available currently is one goal and also sharing how to pull an outfit together with what is available, hopefully saving readers time from having to find all the pieces if they are in search of how to make it work well. After all, it is when we find that perfect item that we know purchasing/investing is worth it, but just looking and being inspired and appreciative is just as enjoyable as well, as you pointed out. Part of the reason, for example, I enjoy watching red carpet events is to see what they come up with. Not that I will ever be on the red carpet, but to see what colors and textures work together, shoe pairings with ensembles, etc. It is amazing what remains in your ideas of inspiration from gathering inspiration with our perusal. Thank you very much again for your comment. xo
