January arrives and we want to look great and feel good in our clothes, but we also (at least in the far Northern Hemisphere locales) want to be warm as we go about our days. I say, keep it simple.

I pull out the go-to favorite slim jeans (yep, I know they are out of vogue at the moment which is wide the next item I pull on is wider and more en style), tuck them into knee-high boots, pull on a slightly over-sized sweater, yet one that this not too bulky, don a simple pair everyday earrings and go about my day.

And finally, one of those items that is always a necessity to have in my closet has been added after more than a few years of shopping and having my hopes dashed with previous attempts – the black heeled knee boot. Yep! Loeffler Randall’s black knee boot is en route to my house and it will be worn for years if it fits as I think it will. With a shaft that is not too narrow, a classic cut and a 3.5 heel, I can wear with jeans or with a dress and for years have a boot that does not go out of style.

What is your go-to winter everyday look? If it is anything like mine, I have done some shopping for you along with a book that has critics all applauding that was just released. Happy shopping!

  1. Shannon, I LOVE the sweater! Is this something you would recommend to wear a cami with underneath? It is so cold in Oklahoma!

    1. Laura, Thank you for stopping by! your style and weather will determine what works best for you. I would consider layering it under a blazer or a jacket as well. A camisole may work depending upon the color – I would opt for something that works with the sweater.

  2. For those who would like similar boots but need a wide calf, can I throw out a recommendation for DuoBoots? Mine are now 14 years old, worn regularly and cared for, and still look amazing. They’re not cheap, but they’re worth it!

  3. Big fan of knee high boots worth the investment and paired with a maxi coat ( am a 70’s girl). You’ re set for the cold weather. x
