A film that takes us back to 2014, but no less worthwhile watching now in 2015.
Omar Sy (Lupin, Intouchables) stars as Samba a migrant from Senegal who is trying to stay in France legally. Charlotte Gainsbourg (Étoile) stars as Alice, a woman who is on sabbatical from reaching burn-out in her corporate job. During this year off, Alice works as a volunteer helping immigrants navigate the paperwork as they come to France and try to enter the country.
Through an inside look at the journey of an immigrant, the questions, the reasons for bringing them to France to seek a new life, the paperwork, the hurdles, the waiting period, and so much more, while there is drama, there is also humor as Sy and Gainsbourg provide beautifully.
The chemistry between their characters is present, but so too is the reality of each of their lives.
Finally having a chance to watch this film last month, I thoroughly enjoyed it and think you will too. Have a look at the trailer below.
