An American living and designing interiors in Paris. A dream turned beautiful reality for interior designer David Jimenez.

David Jimenez has called the City of Light home for the past six years, and now his apartment in Paris is on Île Saint-Louis and his boutique and atelier only three steps away. Yep, three steps away. The ideal commute.

In Diane Dorrans Saeks’ new book Parisian by Design: Interiors by David Jimenez, take intimate tours of all seven of Jimenez’ residences including his apartments that were and are his home in Paris, his country eight-room apartment in Saintines, just one hour north of Paris, as well as his homes in San Francisco and Kansas City. Each of his abodes exude subtly, and others more overtly, quintessential Parisian style. The layering of textiles, piles of books, custom upholstered or designed screens, thoughtful use of antiques, mirrors, vases and of course, art and sculpture throughout each play an integral role, and even in small spaces, the attention to detail is particularly deft.

Gain inspiration not only from the home tours, but in the latter half of the book, let Jimenez share where he finds inspiration for interiors, his preferences when it comes to chic color choices, French tabletop design, how to find treasures at Paris’ many flea markets, and even his favorite boutiques and shops both in Paris and in the south near Avignon at the famed and worth visiting L’Isle-Sur-la-Sorgue brocante and shops.

One of my favorite pics (and my favorite home toured in the book) is of his country kitchen in northern France. See below:

  1. He’s coming to Kansas City for a chat and book signing this Friday evening, I can’t wait! I was able to tour his Kansas City home through a homes tour many years ago, and it was absolutely stunning!

    1. Marina,

Have a wonderful time! He just responded on IG as he was en route to NYC via plane from Paris. I would love to be there and will think of you and this opportunity. How awesome! Enjoy!

  2. Shannon,
I’m so grateful you recommended this book; I am loving it! I especially like that finds from the french flea markets are interspersed with items from RH and Williams Sonoma.
    This book is a treat!

  3. Shannon a stunning book. Love all the plant displays in his kitchen. I shared that he had the same paint ‘flat white ‘by Farrow and Ball in his Parisian apartment as I have in my farmhouse So tickled when I read that?
