As many readers of the blog and listeners of the podcast know, one of my favorite weekly rituals beginning in March and running through October each year is to tune in to BBC’s Gardeners’ World, hosted by Monty Don (I share in detail what I love about this series here and here). But not only is Monty Don an expert gardener, he and his wife have also authored a handful of cookbooks, and it is their cookbook published in 2010, The Home Cookbook that I have been trying to track down for more than a few months. Finally, I found a copy to welcome into my kitchen library and I think you too will enjoy it, so I wanted to share.
Organized by the meals of the day and including the traditional British meals of Elevenses and Tea, Monty and Sarah share classic British recipes and how they enjoy them as they move through the seasons and utilize the vegetables, fruit and produce (fresh eggs from their hens) found on their organic farm where they have lived for 31 years, Longmeadow.
I am enjoying the cookbook as much as a cooking resource and inspiration as I am as a pleasure read as Monty’s writing shares glimpses of their everyday life and routines, accompanied by photos inside and out of their home and garden.
Searching for a copy, as I mentioned was difficult, but there are many used copies available online, and I have linked them below. I have also included a direct link through Amazon, but at the time I am posting this, that was the most expensive option. I paid $20 for my copy from World of Books (free shipping), and while it took about three weeks to arrive, it was worth it as I have already cooked out it twice, and look to perusing for recipes throughout the year for everyday, delicious, seasonal fare.

I ordered by copy of The Home Cookbook. I love Monty and love cooking – it sounds like a perfect match. Thank you.
Sara,
So happy you have a copy en route! I do hope you enjoy. 🙂
Shannon, thank you so much for reminding me of World of Books! ‘The Home Cookbook’ was the catalyst. It is now on the way, along with Kimberley Wilson’s, ‘How to Build A Better Brain’. Merci bien!? xx
So happy to hear! The shipments take time, but receiving free shipping is worth it. I do think you’ll enjoy and gain much from both books. Thank you for sharing. ?
