Just as curiosity helps us to discover more about the world, it is also how we discover our unique and beautiful self. By being curious, we are open to all that is waiting to be discovered. Pair these two skills with kindness in treating what we see and how we engage with it, and we have the equation for how to treat ourselves as we get to know all that we are capable of, how we best function, what energizes us, what deflates us, and where we feel nourished and at ease.

By treating ourselves in this way, we begin to see ourselves flourish. We begin to trust our inner compass as we step in the direction it guides us, and we witness gifts we didn’t know existed within us being unearthed. We realize we are quite a dependable ‘tour guide,’ and as a result, our self-trust strengthens. We become less reliant on others’ opinions, and begin to make decisions for ourselves, letting others think what they will, and we get on with living without trying to convince them of our choice.

A comfort given to ourselves that nobody can take away. When we like our own company, it’s a gift we give ourselves, and through meditating, we gain clarity about whose thoughts we have been trusting, which eventually helps us return to our own heart, our inner compass, and there begins the journey that will lead us back to ourselves.

In the Contentment Masterclass, I share my example, which you are welcome to use, tweak, or look to as a template to design your own.
