The early autumn weather on the day the video shoot was scheduled dazzled, showing off the beauty that holds my heart here in Bend. The Beaujolais wine region would be visiting Le Papillon to record a cooking segment, sit and chat segment and then tagging along with me to the weekly local farmers’ market in Bend to capture how I incorporate The French culture of sharing into my everyday life.
The original shoot had been scheduled in August, but had to change due to unexpected events with another influencer which actually turned out to be far better as the weather and the smoky skies were no match for the beauty late September shared.
The Spacestation video production company from Brooklyn had been tasked to fly around the country to five different selected individuals’ home towns, some bloggers, others restauranteurs, to capture a day in their world, sharing how they paired Beaujolais wine into their dining and engaging with friends and the larger community.
To say I was tickled the crew was willing to trek all the way to Bend, Oregon, which is a three-hour-plus drive over the Cascades, to capture the video footage you see in the video below is an understatement. Arriving just before 10am, the house was ready, Norman was ready, and I too did my best to present my best self. After all, I would be cooking, drinking wine and going to the market. Not a bad day. 🙂
The recipe shared in the video was part of episode #7, season 4 of The Simply Luxurious Kitchen cooking show – Sautéed Scallops with Créme Fraîche & Celery Root Puree with Herb Drizzle. Simple, ready to serve in 20 minutes from start to finish, I love this recipe and it works well for an appetizer as well.
Norman took all of the busyness in the house in stride quite well. And while in the three minute final video you don’t see him, he was captured many different times, one even exclusively for a Norman shot popping out of the mudroom and into the kitchen, but as this video is meant to spotlight the wine, his scenes were cut. However, as you can see below, he took his seat in the captain’s chair by the fireplace and observed it all, napping most of the time.
Visiting the local farmers market was what determined when the video shoot would take place. As I often visit throughout the summer and take great inspiration from the many French markets I have visited over the years, it only seemed fitting that we explore the offerings from the local farmers.
We could not have asked for a more pristine Bend Blue Bird Day as there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, the smoke has vanished and the temperature moderate and comfortable.

Working with the crew and the director was a breeze, as they walked me through everything down to the smallest detail. And while I had to remind myself to slow down my pour (shot captured below when I forgot), eventually, it all came together.
Now to the video. I do hope you enjoy. It was a wonderful experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity. And without hesitation, I highly recommend exploring a varietal of Beaujolais wine when you next get the chance. 🙂
