Similar to zhushing up our wardrobe to better align with our life once we become more in tune to our needs and what and how we enjoy living. Or on a similar front, our homes. When we know what lifts us, what nourishes us and what speaks to who we most fully are, it becomes easier to choose the details that accurately reflect its inhabitants.

Beginning in September 2020, TSLL’s membership tiers began being offered as a way to create an online community where readers can gather with each other who are cultivating a life they love living, that brings them to life and that offers inspiration, elevating the everyday while turning dreams into a realized experienced.

And when we were coming up with the names for the two tiers back then, I wanted to be as clear as possible because this was new, as few blogs and websites had a soft paywall. So simplicity guided my word choice. TOP and BASIC it was, and it provided clarity as to which tier would gain all and exclusive access, and which would provide a taste but not the entire meal of all that The Simply Luxurious Life (TSLL) offers.

In that vein, to further that metaphor of food and dining, I wanted to choose terms for TSLL’s memberships that better reflected, more elegantly communicated what TSLL is all about.

As shared on my Introductions (Start Here) page, France and Britain provide much inspiration for content, celebration, and gathering here on the blog. There are many Francophiles and Anglophiles in TSLL community, so I wanted to choose terms that subtly reflected this, and so Entrée and Premier were chosen.

Let’s take a look at each tier name and what inspired them to be the new choice.

Entrée

The French term Entrée, meaning the first course of many (not to be confused with the American use of entree which means the main dish), indicates that this tier of membership opens the door to enjoy The Simply Luxurious Life content as much as you want (unlimited reading), but with access to only certain posts, and the ads will remain.

~All benefits that were provided to BASIC members remain the same for Entrée members.

Premier

The term Premier, funnily enough, while being an English term used in all English-speaking countries, has its roots in Old French and Latin. And you know me and word origin, I love being the anthropologist and exploring where words come from. So when I learned this about Premier, I knew it was the best word to describe the newly named top tier of TSLL’s memberships.

Premier is defined as being the top tier, so it is a perfect substitute from the original name. Also described as “the best or most important”, “best in rank”, and “best in quality”. And with Premier members gaining exclusive access to all of TSLL’s content, plus being able to enjoy everything ad-free, it fits beautifully.

Psst: Also, Anglophiles who subscribe to Britbox will notice the term is also used for their top offering of content, and it did not go unacknowledged that this was a British streaming service, so a bit of a tip-of-the-hat to our Anglophile predilections here on TSLL.

At the heart of choosing to make these changes to TSLL’s membership tiers is to best align with all that TSLL offers you, the readers of The Simply Luxurious Life. As many of you know, with these changes to the membership tier names, the prices also changed for new members or returning (inactive) members for all tiers and payment schedules as TSLL continues to offer a vast library of content for readers to explore and apply to their unique life journey, while also dependably offering regular, consistent content on a weekly basis (explore the regular posting schedule here). Once you become a member, that is your price for life until you change/upgrade/cancel, even as prices increase, as they do, in the coming years. You may pause at any time and retain your price. And as we look ahead on the content calendar, I want to share with you what you can anticipate in the coming months here on TSLL because there is A LOT to look forward to!:

• TSLL’s 11th Annual French Week (August 9th-15th), giveaways for Premier members and two posts each day focused on French-inspired content
• Tour of TSLL’s Butler’s Pantry (end of August). Explore all of TSLL’s Home Tours here (more than 25!). Exclusively available to Premier members.
• TSLL’s 4th Book, Savoring the Sojourn: Contentment through the Seasons as You Unearth Your Masterpiece is released on Tuesday, August 25th
• The 12-part Signature Style series continues, one post each month through December. Catch up on all previous parts shared thus far here.
• The Guest Bedroom will finally be revealed (my intention is to have it done by the end of this year *fingers crossed*, progress is being made!)
• Travel to France and/or Britain resumes in 2027, which means not only will there be the return of my Travel Diary posts (exclusively for Premier members), but oodles of content for the blog and French and British weeks.
• The 17th season (one year is a season) of TSLL kicks off at the end of August! View last year’s kick-off of season 16th, a 7-part series focused on sharing “Who is TSLL Written For?”
• Other than that, it’s all about letting serendipity play a role! On y va!
