“I understood very early on the importance of having a cocoon, an anchor in which one feels good and the need to have a universe that resembles us.” —Sarah Poniatowski, French interior designer
One person’s sanctuary might cause another who visits to feel angst or unrest, but so long as we know ourselves and how and what truly brings us rest and calm, then we will know how to cultivate a sanctuary that brings us to our true and best selves each time we cross the threshold to spend time within its provided cocoon.
Le Papillon has indeed become such a sanctuary, and there isn’t a day that goes by that doesn’t find me extending gratitude for this little abode that plays a grand role in my calm and creativity each day.
This past year the home projects have been many. In fact, six projects have been either begun, completed or shared with the sixth one being posted this first Saturday in January on the 4th, the primary bedroom. With that said, Le Papillon feels different than it did just 12 months ago, and sometimes it is hard to know how much the changes we make aesthetically affect us until an annual event takes place in which things now are different, run more smoothly or feel more comfortable. Such has been the case during the holiday season this year when I wake up and go to sleep each night during the long winter nights. The primary bedroom’s aesthetic has changed the mood, the energy, the ease and the tranquility and all it took were a few, yet significant changes to the space to create this desired effect.
With that said, each of the projects and posts shared below were welcomed and long-thought-about customizations, and while each took time to come to fruition and eventual completion, their contribution to the sanctuary is significant. With each Home Tour post, it is my goal to share with you, the readers of TSLL, how you too can welcome in the benefits of whatever the project’s focus and purpose may be. While each of us will choose different details, the components, the functionality of why we are doing something is similar. Knowing the why helps to lead us to the what will be chosen which then brings more peace of mind when we have the reason for what we are investing in.
It is my hope that with each of these detailed posts, including before and after pics, that upon finishing reading the post, you are then full of ideas sparked to apply to your own sanctuary because that is a powerful gift to give to ourselves and the energy we need to greet each day well.
