With each summer that passes, my guiding style ethos is to dress comfortably while simultaneously dressing chic and effortlessly, or at least appearing to be effortless. And while initially the last descriptor will actually take effort, eventually, that effort is no longer needed and we really can dress with ease, knowing we have what we need in our closet to tick each of the boxes: comfort and style.

With the heat ramping up here in Bend as of late, thankfully, the linen in my own closet has ensured I can keep ticking the boxes with ease, but it has taken me time to build up that aspect of my summer capsule wardrobe. With each passing summer season, the wardrobe becomes more and more polished and the gaps become fewer and fewer to fill.

This month’s Outfits of the Month includes five outfits, but really six or seven as I have shopped three dresses for one of the outfits. The goal for each is an outfit that will be a go-to in your closet that you can rely on. Complete down to the sandals and a book to enjoy (bien sûr !), discover ideas for mixing and matching, relaxing and knowing you look great. It can be simple. It is possible, and I’d like to share with you ideas for how to do just that.

Oh! And before I forget. In the second outfit, the F & E shorts are the same ones I included last year at this time, having purchased two pair – navy and khaki. I live in these during the summer months for walking the pups and working at home. They are an investment, but the quality of linen is why the price is a bit steep. Love them and highly recommend them. They have many different lengths of inseams, so choose what you prefer.

Okay, now to shop and fine tune that summer capsule wardrobe so you can stay cool, look smart and most definitely achieve that effortless vibe. You’ve got this!

  1. Thank you Shannon for some stylish cool comfortable looks. I will bear them in mind for our next Australian summer ☀️. Particularly loved tote. An internal key fob and an external sleeve to attach to your suitcase. Brilliant 👏
