Spring’s arrival nears and before it officially says hello, refreshing our seasonal capsule wardrobe is a regular tradition I enjoy and maybe you do too.

This season, many collections drew inspiration from Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy as you will see in the Creative Simplicity section of the shopped items, so imagine timeless neutrals, with a touch of that little extra something in the style or cut. Another trend you may have noticed if you have begun to peruse shops is checked or gingham is ever-present, and while it is definitely a time to buy this print in a variety of colors now available and on nearly any piece of clothing or accessory (totes), I didn’t include it in our post today because of it tends to be a select few who can carry it off year after year. I did my best to choose trends you could confidently mix and match with what you already have in your closet as well as wear effortlessly season after season without looking dated.

With that said, yet again, Breton stripes are everywhere, and it seems even more so that in previous years. This continues to be a trend that epitomizes timelessness and for good reason. You will find dresses and tops, sweaters and tanks, totes and even pants in stripes below, and they come in all sorts of colors and width.

One of my favorite finds discovered while pulling this season’s shopping guide together was L’Agence’s Malika linen-blend shirt dress (available in three colors – see below). A timeless style, the shirt dress, a touch of ‘new’ with the ribbon contrasting belt and neckline, yet in colors easily paired with what you already have in your wardrobe – handbag, shoes, coat or scarf.

What you will find in this season’s Shopping Guide below:

  • A list of the new trends (4) worth investing in (in other words, they will last for many years to come and transition well with previous seasons).
  • 70+ Shoppable, hand-picked items
    • Simply hover over and click the shoppable items and the brand and price will pop up, clicking will take you to the direct shopping site to explore the item further.
      • Note: There are a handful of items that don’t have a link when you hover over them. The links for these items are listed just below the image.
  • Posts from the TSLL Archives to provide more Style Inspiration and Signature Style inspiration.
  • Updated every six months just in time for the semi-annual Shopping Guides — Be sure to shop TSLL’s Capsule Wardrobe boutique full of timeless finds both in clothing and accessories.

While you shop, don’t forget to save when you use Rakuten (rebates), and if you find something you love, but aren’t ready to purchase it just yet, be sure to save it to KarmaNow. I love using this app and have saved oodles over the years as it alerts me to items I saved when they go on sale the moment they go on sale by sending me an email alert. And another reminder when you’re shopping, while likely the new collections aren’t available for applied discount codes, I always search for possible coupons using Karmanow, as well as simply search the name of the item + on sale in the Search bar of my browser, to see if any other site is carrying this item at a discount (department stores, for example). This will happen toward the end of the seasonal shopping session, but I have scored some great savings by being patient and searching for potential savings.

Just as a reminder, each Spring and Fall, TSLL’s releases its annual Shopping Guide on March 1st and September 1st. As well, every Friday, the weekly This & That post includes sales of note, hand-picked clothing items I think you might be interested in, and many other current culture news, premieres and releases (peruse back through the most recent This & That posts here), so be sure to stop by throughout the year.

Also, if you want more This & That finds, even more personal discoveries and recommendations that I come across and cannot wait to share with TSLL readers, you will want to explore becoming a TOP Tier Member as the monthly Ponderings . . . post is essentially a more intimate and personal This & That post. Explore past Ponderings . . . posts here and learn more about the many benefits of becoming a TOP Tier Member here.

  1. such simple and elegant looks, but I am in love with the pale blue slingbacks, the gorgeous white dresses and the espresso shoulder bag. we are planning a cruise this summer, my very first ever and, wondering what one wears …….seeing this reminds me to stick to the styles and simplicity that I love and not “worry”over the right and wrong things to wear haha.
thank you, as always, for the inspiration, Shannon
