To sleep on linen sheets, made from flax, is to sleep on one of the most comfortable and sleep inducing fabrics whatever the seasonal climate. Chosen for the petit plaisir of episode #401 of the podcast, linen sheets are the daily, every night simple luxury you can give yourself that makes a world of difference to your quality of living.

Introduced to linen sheets back in 2018 during a visit to France where I had the opportunity to learn all about the harvesting, the creation along with the environmental and health benefits, I have been sleeping on linen sheets every night all year-round ever since. In the post shared below, I detail all of the information just mentioned as well as share a video of flax fields in Normandy.

Inspired by my recent trip to France where I picked up another vintage linen sheet at a local brocante antique shop in Lannion, Brittany, I was reminded how both luxurious and necessary such a purchase is to our daily life for a deep, restful night of sleep. Costing only €25, this vintage sheet, as you see it below and above also has some detailed embroidery and was in excellent condition. Something else I detail in the post below is how to shop, select and find a high quality vintage sheet.

As mentioned in episode #401, if you cannot find vintage linen sheets, whether while traveling to France or Belgium or online (be sure to explore Etsy), a linen sheet that I highly recommend purchased brand new comes from The White Company, the Santorini linen sheets (be sure to select their ‘linen’ bed linen, as they also have a cotton option under the same name). Thick, yet supple, these sheets will last a wonderfully long time. Just be sure not to dry them in a dryer and instead air-dry.

Vintage Linen Sheets were the Petit Plaisir for episode #401 of The Simple Sophisticate podcast, What France Continues to Teach me About Living Well
