~my mom, taking the cruiser for a tour~
This week’s Petit Plaisir is a little bit different as I have stepped away from my computer for a weekend to be with my mom.
Mother’s Day is a time I have the opportunity to spend with my own mother, and it is something I savor each year. It’s not that I don’t see her throughout the year or talk to her on the phone nearly every week, but it’s time to let her know how thankful I am to have such a woman in my life.
Without question, the courage to begin this creative venture that is The Simply Luxurious Life was instilled by the encouragement of my mother to try. Why not? After all, unless we try, we’ll never know what might occur.
Always full of creative ideas, she has instilled in me the belief that no idea is too silly, too absurd or too crazy. A woman who has, with my father, built her own beautiful home, tends to an exquisite garden that I look forward to wandering in each summer and delights in working with others on projects that improve a variety of destinations around her community, I may have an innate passion for simple luxury, but it has been fostered by the woman I am fortunate to call my mom.
So it only seems appropriate that this weekend’s Petit Plaisir is time spent with Mom. Whether you have the opportunity to spend time with your mom or not, whether that person is biological or discovered through life’s journey, whoever fills the spot of a mother figure in your life – someone who supports you, encourages you, believes in your dreams even when you doubt yourself – I hope you too are able to enjoy the simple pleasure of time with this special person. And while yes, today in the states marks this a day for mom, any day of the year will do.
Happy Mother’s Day, to all of my readers with children, young and old, and doggie mamas too. 🙂
Hello there, while clicking from your podcasts, came across this.
Sheer love and loveliness. Even though my mother has been gone 18 years, I find that wherever we go ~ we who are lucky to experience our mothers’ unconditional love ~ can forever connect with love for all mothers, our own and everyone’s. Thank you for reaching across the years and bringing a beautiful moment today! -Liz
