Autumn arrives and reaching for the softest to the touch pieces in my closet becomes instinctive. From the sweaters right down to the tip of my boots.
With a few pieces added here and there this season, I am also looking forward to wearing those feel-so-good items I already have in my closet, and perhaps you are too. Often we only need to fill in the gaps once we reflect on what was missing last season, and when all we have to do is fill in the gaps, it becomes far easier to invest well in high quality items.
In this month’s Outfits post, I have styled a dress, dress pants and a jeans based ensemble so you have inspiration for a variety of tastes and outings. Mixed in among the outfits a sale going on at Tory Burch, so even if you aren’t drawn to the particular items included, but know that brand carries what you love, be sure to stop by and shop to save.
And of course, included in each outfit are books, each one from a very different genre, one a classic from the past, another recently released (in the UK, available in November in the states) and one soon to be released. Happy shopping!

Love these outfits! Provides great inspiration for fall. I am currently on the hunt for a classic trench coat.
Thank you for stopping by Logan and a great place to shop classic trenches at varying price points from trusted brands in Nordstrom – here is a link to their round up of trenches – https://rstyle.me/+6Umw6elokaKlvetAIfSdOA
Having that go-to trench is a great thing and when you find the one that works for your height and skin tone and hair color, it brings great peace of mind. Have a wonderful weekend!
You always feature such lovely, luxe items of clothing, Shannon. Exquisite taste! Malheureusement, the cuts and colors are not flattering to my body type and coloring–BUT that’s okay. Over the years, I’ve tried different styles and colorways, and I’ve discovered many look better on my in my imagination than in real life. Ha ha! It turns out I look best in brighter colors. Navy is my dark neutral, and my lights are ivory and warm tan. I still wear white (pants and a tee or two), but warmer colors are more favorable. I also adore flowy patterned pants. As my daughter told me, that’s my signature style. Of course, none of this stops me from admiring the more understated and chic French looks! Lately, I’ve watched a few of Michelle Barrett’s videos on YouTube (Capsule Closet Stylist), and I really enjoy her approach, particularly for those of us in midlife. We don’t stop being who we are because our age! Bonne journee, Shannon, to you and the pups!
Oh, I forgot to mention that I love the books you’ve highlighted here. I definitely fall into the maximalist camp, but with our plans to downsize in a couple of years, I’m having to be selective.
Good evening, lots to unpack here Shannon. I have been shopping, of course, I have curated each piece, and I am happy. While I fear that effortless Parisian style is beyond my reach, I have followed Léonce Chenal since you mentioned her some time ago. She presents an honest and reasonable style that is comfortable and chic. Since I lean East Coast neutral, many of her ideas translate as easily as yours. I picked up a traditional below-knee length coat,(coats are my weakness) with classic cut lapels, and patch pockets in an oatmeal tweed. Your recommendations inspired me, thank you.
Lucy,
Thank you for stopping by and I agree – Léonce Chenal truly does present a reasonable and approach style of Parisian chic. 🙂 The coat you described sounds timeless and ideal! Thank you for sharing. 😌
