So often in life, we are asked for our opinion on a topic, our stance on a particular event, person, or idea, and while saying we take that side or another, yes or no, like or dislike may seem like our only options, this is a false choice. We don’t have to attach our mind to one belief.

Andy Puddicombe shares that “the danger of holding on too tightly to a particular belief or idea is that in order to do so, we have to limit the mind.” And curiosity cannot exist in a limited mind. By the very nature of being curious, we need to allow the mind to be free to explore ideas, follow what tickles it, and be liberated in its wanderings.

Meditation shows us how to hold our mind open and shares how to be comfortable with entertaining many ideas without clinging to one. Because when we cling, we close down our ability to see all sorts of aspects of life from different perspectives. A curious mind is limitless and sets us free to discover what will bring us to life, perhaps something we never before thought possible. It is in embracing curiosity that we find our way.

~To conclude each meditation session, I encourage you to recite a mantra of your choosing and design. In the Contentment Masterclass, I share my example, which you are welcome to use, tweak, or look to as a template to design your own. Also provided to enrollees of the course is a free trial of the guided meditation app I use.
