As a contributing editor to Vogue where he writes his monthly “Life with Andre” column, the iconic man of style Andre Leon Talley’s new book Little Black Dress becomes available today.

In correlation with the gallery exhibit by the same name that was first available for viewing in his own gallery inside the Savannah College of Art and Design beginning September 2012, 80 garments from a canon of modern fashion designers were on display. The exhibit will reopen at Mona Bismark American Center for Art & Culture beginning this July.

The good news is the book contains all of the exquisite designs in a chic as well as grand coffee table book that will complement any fashionista’s stylish decor.

Full of quotes from top designers such as Carolina Herrera, Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg and others regarding their definition of the powers of a little black dress, the reader can’t help but be reminded of why one or more of these wardrobe essentials should hang in the closet. After all, who knows when a last minute invitation may arrive, and knowing one looks effortlessly stylish instills instant confidence.

Commencing with a design by Karl Lagerfeld made of wool and trimmed in silk to be part of a 2006 haute couture collection, the exhibition also includes items from the closets of his closest friends as well as loans from world-famous designers.
