As the holidays are in full-swing, there are a handful of destinations that capture my attention, and one of them is without question New York City. While I have yet to visit during this festive time of year, it is on my list to do. So when New York City stylist and NYC resident, Tiffani Rogers, offered to give TSLL readers a virtual tour of the city through her lens, I couldn’t say yes fast enough.

Enjoy an insider’s guide to enjoying the holidays in New York City.

It’s been almost a decade since I moved to the Big Apple, and I still get giddy when I see the holiday decorations go up every year. Sure, this city can be overwhelming with the large amount of tourists visiting at this time of year…but after many years of living here I have learned a few tricks of the trade on how to enjoy the holiday season in NYC.

First off, less is more. I narrow down my holiday tradition to truly enjoying just a few things here in the city. The first being the holiday windows at Bergdorf Goodman. No one, I REPEAT no one does their holiday windows like Bergdorf’s.  From the designer garments to the intricate details making up the background it is a sight to be seen. Each year there is a theme and this year’s theme is “The Arts”.

After seeing the windows at Bergdorf Goodman I make my way a few blocks over where I go ice skating in Central Park. I highly recommend going ice skating at dusk or in the evening. It’s a magical experience to look up and see the entire city lit up above you as you are ice skating.

My favorite way to end the night is going to the Todd English Food Hall at The Plaza to grab a decadent hot chocolate. The Food Hall at The Plaza offers fresh and gourmet foods from numerous bakeries and restaurants around the city under one roof. I love Three Tarts bakery hot chocolate and flavored marshmallows (particularly Vanilla Bean, Espresso and Raspberry). An absolute treat!

My final trick to enjoying the season is doing all of the activities said above on a weekday, not the weekend. You’ll encounter waaay less crowds. Well, I hope my tricks of the trade help you enjoy your visit to NYC this season. Happy Holidays!
