Comfort, respite, delights, and leisurely everyday enjoyment.
All of these descriptors and more fill my being and flood my memories when I even think about my time in France.
And with reference to the comfort the French culture has for so long brought into my own life experience, that is our focus in this year’s Annual celebration of all things French. Because even when we cannot be in France, we can draw upon what has spoken to us, what has taken our breath away, what has seemed to ‘speak our language’ even if we don’t speak the French language well or at all, and then infuse our days with touches or an abundance of that which the French culture opened our eyes to and we can no longer go back to living or doing something the old way again into our everyday life wherever we call home.
Why? Because we have witnessed the quality of our daily living experience elevate, and paradoxically deepen the everyday experience of life. So why would we?
Without giving too much more away, as I want you to look forward and anticipate each day, twice a day!, what will be shared so you can savor it, let’s talk quickly about what you can look forward to over the next seven days:
If you are new to TSLL’s Annual celebration of all things French during our French Week now in its nine occasion, you are in for a treat. Here is what you can look forward to beginning today and running through next Sunday August 18th:

The official illustration seen at the top of today’s post was created by Sarah Lœcker, the illustrator behind all of the illustrations in my most recent book The Road to Le Papillon: Daily Meditations on True Contentment, and years ago I shared, when the illustration was first revealed, that it was inspired by my trip to Paris in 2022. Discover what each of the details included are and where they were seen and experienced. You can read that detailed post here (scroll half-way down the post).

Oui ! On y va ! ☺️??❤️
Having watched the closing ceremony of the Olympics today, even more special to begin French week. It would be fun to try a variety of the chocolates. I love nuts, so would select a Nougatine & Fleur De Sel dark bar, a French Nuts & Candied Fruit dark bar, and 2 Little Roosters, one dark and one milk. Loved all of the artistry on display at the Paris Olympics. Thank you, Shannon. Phenomenal timing this year. ?? ?
Oops!! Will repost to the correct section.
Magnifique! Over the moon to take an armchair journey with you all to France…
So glad I am just back on time to enjoy the French Week. Looking forward to it – and so much to catch up with already, oh my!
I am sure it is going to be brilliant – it always is. Thank you, Shannon! 🙂
And what a fantsatic way to start, yum! 🙂
My choice would be a selection of their “Tablettes de chocolat Cru d’exception” – I prefer Chocolat Noir. No particular preference – I am curious about all -, with a caveat: the selection would include a Tablette from Sao Tomé e Príncipe, small island in Africa where I lived for some years and a very happy place for me. This would be a 2-in-1, double delicious!
Good luck, everyone!
Oops! Sorry, wrote my comment in the wrong place. I have now copy/ pasted in in the right post. My apologies. We are under a heat wave this week, so my brain is going particularly slow at this point… 😉
No worries at all! And may the heat abate soon! 🙂 I completely understand. Not a heat lover myself. 🙂
Thank you for introducing us to even more tastes of delicious chocolate. I am intrigued!
