The joy of flâneuring is partly joy-filled due to the comfort of the clothes and especially the shoes you are wearing, and so prior to leaving for Paris earlier this month, I set out to find a comfortable, yet still stylish pair of sneakers as I have made the mistake during previous trips of trying to be too ‘stylish’, and that never went well. ☺️ 🙃

Last month’s Style Inspiration post focused primarily on finding the best sneakers in various price points for a Paris excursions. And of the sneakers found was the pair I chose to accompany me on my trip:

Adidas’ Japan leather sneaker.

Choosing the warm sandstone, the sneakers are lightweight, but also provide support, and are narrower than most retro sneakers. They come with two different sets of laces – white and sandstone – so I replaced the white to create a more monochromatic look for a streamlined leg length.

Wearing these shoes during my flight from Oregon to Paris, and walking about Paris during my first three days (when I arrived in the countryside, I swapped them out for my willies and traditional Nike running shoes to keep the Adidas clean) felt as though I had nothing on my feet. I had finally done it! I had found the sneaker, the shoe that checked all the boxes, and my feet don’t have any blisters, bloodied heels or any other ‘wounds’ caused by improper footwear.

In fact, on one day alone – read the first Travel Diary post here, I walked more than eight miles (even while taking the metro and trains), and my feet felt great.

What is also appreciated about these high quality designed shoes is the price. Regularly priced at $120, I paid $110 with discounts (free shipping from Nordstrom), and they arrived within five days.

Knowing this style, a retro look, is timeless, gives me peace of mind that I will be able to reach for these shoes for years to come for travel and walking about cities – whether Paris or London – and looked pulled together, yet smart.

What I paired them with most of the time were my navy wide-legged wool pants from Hugo Boss (for plane travel and cafés), and they worked and looked just as I had hoped. And then while visiting the brocante fair in Chatou, I wore them with my boyfriend jeans (you can see a bit of the leg of both of these pants in photos below). I also packed them in my tote when I visited the Louvre as I wore a dress and when my heels became too much, I swapped them out for these shoes. ☺️

If you are looking for a sneaker that is timeless, super comfortable while adding a touch of style, I could not recommend more highly Adidas’s Japan Sneakers. Your feet will thank you, but most importantly, you will be able to focus on what you wish to do, enjoy and experience while traveling.

The Adidas Japan sneaker was chosen for the Petit Plaisir of episode #400 of The Simple Sophisticate podcast – What I’ve Learned in French Class, So Far . . . part neuf
