~I invite you to listen to the audio version shared above, where a guided meditation is provided that follows what is shared below in the text.
The analogy of the blue sky always being behind the clouds is frequently shared when it comes to calming our mind when we meditate. No matter how thick the fog of life may be, our worries, any unwanted news, we can always rest assured that we can come back to calm, find the blue sky, when we return to our breath. Not just breathing, but paying attention to our breath. Acknowledging our actions (breathing) by counting our breath in the present moment holds us in the present moment, so that instead of getting caught up in the noise of our emotions or our thoughts, we can instead step back from them. This immediately calms our heart rate and regulates our nervous system.
So the next time you cannot figure something out, can’t find the solution, instead of trying to think more, choose instead to breathe more deeply, intentionally, and to hold yourself in that present moment, literally by counting your breath, breathing deeply as you do.
Let’s start counting . . .
~To conclude each meditation session, I encourage you to recite a mantra of your choosing and design. In the Contentment Masterclass, I share my example, which you are welcome to use, tweak, or look to as a template to design your own. Also provided to enrollees of the course is a free trial of the guided meditation app I use.
