Potential houses to transform into your sanctuary are often in as much abundance as is your imagination, and it is clear that the owners of this Hampshire home which was a vicarage had grand imaginations. Enlisting the expertise of Max Rollitt, an antiques dealer, their new home became a beckoning regal, yet comfortable home witih the thoughtfully selected items.
Welcoming antiques and vintage items into our home is a simple idea for infusing our signature style and life journey into our homes. While it may take patience to find exactly what speaks to us, asking for help is never a bad idea.
Part of the reason I was drawn to this home was due to the image above which captures a grand pedestal, round dining room table. Such a table is precisely what I have dreamt to have in my own home: a sturdy, heavy wood – oak is usually what grabs my eye, but there are many woods – table that is large enough for 8, but could be cozy enough for four.
Well, after many years of shopping, it turns out all you need to do is mention to a vintage or antique’s dealer or shop owner what you are looking for, and before you know it, they may know exactly where to find what you’re are hunting for. Such was the case last month, and last week, I laid my eyes on a 1890 oak round table that sat upon a pedestal. Oh, my goodness, I couldn’t believe it. I do look forward to showing it to you soon.
Needless to say, the takeaway lesson is to ask for what you are looking for. There may not be many, and it may take time to find, but we often never know until we ask or inquire. At the very least, they can take your name and put it on a list so that you will be contacted when such items arrive in the shop.
Now, back to today’s Decor Inspiration which is a beautiful lesson is seeking expertise advice. Throughout this entire home, which was featured in House & Garden UK (tour the entire space here), the thoughtful antique choices, fabrics and pairings create a home that is not only stunning, but welcoming and cozy as well.
