The fashion world lost a formidable talent Monday evening when Oscar de la Renta passed away at the age of 82, and while most of us will only be able to enjoy his designs from afar, his attention to femininity coupled with elegance will always be remembered. Sarah Jessica Parker as well as endless other celebrities had the good fortune to be styled in his designs, as well as five first ladies and must we not forget Princess Diana or Audrey Hepburn.
Today I’ve compiled a handful of street style images spotlighting Oscar de la Renta designs as well as a few timeless pictures of well-known names wearing his talents. An additional note, Inslee, who is the exclusive illustrator for TSLL, shared a lovely post reflecting on her time as an intern for Oscar de la Renta in 2011. Perhaps you recognize the Oscar de la Renta striped gown in the image for The Simple Sophisticate podcast created by Inslee? While I can say that I made the suggestions for the illustration, it was Inslee who chose his design for the image, and I couldn’t have been happier. Read her post here, and enjoy a nostalgic, yet bitter-sweet glimpse at a gentleman’s gift that will never be forgotten.

Shannon,
I believe the dress Jackie Kennedy is wearing was designed by Oleg Cassini, not Oscar de la Renta.
Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I will investigate further.
Hi – I think Audrey Hepburn is wearing Givenchy in “Sabrina”? I don’t see Jackie O as mentioned above.
PS: LOVE your blog!!!!
His work was so beautiful words don’t do them justice. Thank you for the lovely images.
Beautiful dresses! The loss is absolutely felt!
