A classic option that can carry you from work to play without missing a beat is to pair a stripe top with a blazer. Whether the blazer is in a solid, neutral hue or a print or even a bright signature shade, stripes serve as the neutral foundation to meld well with the rest of your outfit.

A couple of years ago, I produced a podcast episode (#58) which spotlighted the versatility of the blazer as well as listed ideas for styling, and one of the ideas was to pair it with stripes. Dress the stripes up or down, choose a jersey long-sleeve or a silk stripe camisole and the look comes together immediately. Perhaps this is a look you might want to incorporate into your capsule wardrobe.

I have shopped a handful of stripe tops for you below as well as a few blazers, but be sure to shop for my go-to blazers in TSLL’s Capsule Wardrobe boutique here.

  1. Thanks for the reminder on this stylish duo! And the links to past capsule wardrobe and closet edit posts. In fact, I am cleaning out my closet today as we are preparing for our move to a new city.

  2. I wholeheartedly endorse this. 🙂 A striped shirt and blazer with jeans/khakis and flats/stylish sneakers is my go-to travel outfit. I wear it at other times as well, but when traveling it’s just a great way to look put together but still comfortable, and also ensures that I’ll fit in with style almost anywhere I go.
