~recipe for Browned Butter Chocolate Chunk Pecan Pizzookie~
The snowfall began late yesterday morning, continues as I type this morning and isn’t forecasted to take a respite until Sunday. And knowing all of this makes me smile profusely. Why? While I may be inside primarily, aside from the occasional walk with my dogs, as I putter away inside, simply having the view out my picture window in my great room will be an astonishingly beautiful sight to see. What better inspiration than Mother Nature herself to provoke creativity, instill comfort and restore a tired self?
With books to read, projects to dive into and fall collections shared virtually from New York Fashion Week, I will be in my own simple luxurious heaven. After all, this weekend of winter may perhaps be the season’s last roar, so why not become engrossed in all that it allows – time to prepare, lounge and rest?
If you too will be enjoying some downtime, here are a few articles and points of interest you might enjoy:
~The Transformation of Lady Edith . . . as the fourth season of Downton Abbey reveals itself stateside, I continue to be fascinated by the styling of Edith as she becomes a woman of the era – progressive, en vogue and independent. The New York Times’s article takes a look at her sartorial transformation.
~Natalie Massanet’s premiere issue of her magazine, Porter, hits newsstands today and is slated as the magazine for the stylish and intelligent woman of now. Simulanteously allowing readers to enjoy the style they’ve come to love in Vogue along with the immediate purchasing power they are offered at Net-a-Porter. com, I am looking forward to mine arriving.
~And with the Opening Ceremonies tonight in Sochi, Russia, a Q & A with one of the United States’ Olympic delegates Brian Boitano on Going to Sochi as an Openly Gay Athlete, Home Decorating and More.
~Jay Leno’s last night as the Tonight Show’s host has come and gone. And in case you missed it, Variety offers the entire episode here along with a round-up of what occurred. With Billy Crystal, Garth Brooks and a singing of the Sound of Music including Oprah Winfrey, I will admit I made sure to tape it.
As the weekend arrives, may it provide a time for quiet, enjoyment and an indulgence in a simple luxury or two. Have a lovely few days off, and I’ll see you later this weekend with a new Petit Plaisir. Bonjour!
