With colonial Vietnam in the twenties and thirties as her inspiration, Rachel Roy’s 2012 Spring collection is an experiment on how women might use gentleman separates to step away from tradition of the past and create a style of their own.
With navy and loose fitting wrap tops and dresses, this collection has Asian inspired collars and kimono-esque dresses; however, they work in a very flattering way with belted waists and (my favorite) nude ankle-wrap sandals. Her oversized clutches as well caught my attention as Roy demonstrates that slouchy men’s separates can work in a women’s favor if she knows how to accessorize them.
