The new year often reminds us how good it feels to feel our best when we are comfortable in our physical skin, and each of us knows if we are doing enough to take care of our bodies regarding exercise.

Having workout clothing which enables us to do what we want to do, as well as feel confident whether in a Zoom class or walking or running outside helps unconsciously more than we might realize.

As the new year began, I took an evening to take advantage of sales to spruce up my workout wardrobe for my weekly yoga practice (on Zoom with a local instructor). Three brands I trust when it comes to quality and fit are Lululemon, Sweaty Betty (Brits will know this brand no doubt!) and Athleta. I scooped up this hooded compression jacket in chambray as well as a couple of vests/tanks from Athleta. Not only will yoga look and feel a bit nicer but my walks as well when the months warm up.

But we cannot forget after our workouts. We are tired, yet feel great, exhilarated and more clear minded perhaps. We’ve taken a shower or bath, and now, we may just be able to unwind and relax; however, we want to look and feel our best, so I have shopped an après workout for you as well with one of the new trends much talked about recently: the half zip sweater. Available in cashmere and merino wool in beautiful, classic colors, wear with a slim pant and a pair of flats, and you will begin to melt into the rest of the evening.

  1. Shannon,
As usual, your content is what I am searching for even though I may not know it at the time. Looking for workout and post-workout clothes ! Thank you !

  2. All very stylish Shannon. So satisfying to have the correct gear. Am sure it helps one’s enjoyment of the activity. Love the stripey half zip sweater. I have put my skinnies away and pulled out my slim boyfriend jeans as well. Must be the comfort factor😊

  3. I have been wearing clothes that I reserved for the gym and yoga classes (They look similar to the ones in the pictures.) until the pandemic forced me to cancel my membership to work out at home right after I wake up. Because I have been enjoying my wonderfully convenient YouTube workouts at home (Lazy Dancer Tips, Leilah Belly Dance, Ballet 24, and PopSugar are some of my favorites.), I am not planning to rejoin the gym or my local yoga studio anytime soon — I do not miss the commute, the fight for a parking space or a spot at barre class, crowded Zumba classes, or worries about germs. I freshen up afterwards and wear my more presentable clothing for the rest of the day until I change into my pajamas. What great ideas for apres-workout outfits! The striped sweater is adorable. Merci!

    1. Gretchenista,

Thank you for sharing why you will be adjusting your workout routine moving forward – I completely understand. I too found the gym to be uninspiring and very much felt like a “exerciser” on a treadwheel, going through motions for the result. And while the result is good health, a worthwhile pursuit, when I found an exercise regimen which I enjoyed while I was doing it, my approached changed permanently. 🙂

    1. Absolutely. The key is to pay attention to proportions. You would want a slimming top to pair with the jeans, and do consider a slim boyfriend as well. Thank you for stopping by. 😌
