I tend to gravitate without apology to maxi dresses when I travel in the summer. For plane and train travel, for evenings out, even for strolling about during the day, the maxi is forgiving, stylish and one decision with the exception of the accessories.
When choosing a maxi dress, I do my best to choose something that is timeless, fits well with my capsule wardrobe and something that is made well so it will last for many years. In fact, two of the dresses I wore last week in San Francisco were maxis I had purchased a few years ago – one three years ago and the other five years ago. They were investments, but they still look great and work well for the summer season.
For this week’s Style Inspiration post, I have shopped for maxi dresses available from different brands, made of different materials and different price points as well as styles as well.
Consider purchasing a sleeveless or strapless maxi and pairing with a simple short-waisted jacket so that it will take you from the hot days to the cool evenings, something that enables you to wear it all day. Long or 3/4-length sleeves look truly elegant in the evening or for special occasions and are a reliable source of shoulder coverage or gentle warmth when the heat isn’t too extreme.

Love the aqua one and the gold, towards the end… I love all your posts and podcasts, and I do laugh how similar our philosophies are with one exception, I am more bohemian than you, but everything else meshes very well… lol… Really enjoyed the pix of San Fran…. one of my fav places.
Susan, Thank you for stopping by and that dress caught my eye immediately as well! (Maybe I have a bit of a predilection for bohemian in me after all ?). Have a lovely day!
