As I was watching the Wimbledon Gentleman’s Championship match this past Sunday, I couldn’t help but adore the bodice of Victoria Beckham’s navy dress, and I was oh so curious to see the entire dress. Come to find out, it’s classic with a touch of modern pop from her spring 2014 collection.
One of the sartorial reasons I am drawn to tennis, but always to Wimbledon each year, is the crowd’s attire. Men wear jackets and ties, women lovely day dresses as Victoria demonstrates above and Kate Middleton below in a blue and green Jonathan Saunders item (also at the men’s finals). Yes, it may be a sport, but it’s an honor to watch the finals at Wimbledon, and I feel right at home with this mentality. And so this week’s theme was inspired – high and low. Mixing beautiful designer items with casual pieces is a brilliant way to adhere to one’s budget all the while looking chic and sophisticated. Below are a handful of ideas – some are perfect for a more casual setting and others could perhaps earn you a front row seat at a fashion show. Have a look, and be sure to choose your favorite to be shopped next week.
I have to admit, this was one of my favorite outfits to shop. The nautical theme, the chic simplicity and the touches of femininity. While I did find Marc Jacob’s white and indigo dress (far left), I fell in love with Jean Paul Gaultier’s caped back dress for work and more formal occasions. It is on drastic reduction, and I know it won’t last long – a wonderful investment piece reduced to a fantastic bargain. And the tote – don’t you just love this all-purpose tote? Well-crafted from Mark & Graham, and it could be the perfect summer carry-all. Don’t forget the white denim jacket which is always great to have on hand in the summer months for layering, and the Fossil watch – a brand I am loving for the quality and the price.

I’m loving #9 with the gorgeous skirt
I’ll say #11 (last one)-so chic. But I also really like #7-navy top, jeans, simple flat sandals-really shows how the shoes and bag make the simple clothing so elegant-to me a perfect example of “high-low”.
I love the white skirt with the print and the white blouse.
thank you for showing outfits with flats. I can’t wear high heels and so desperately want to look stylish in flats. These pics are a great help!
I like the little white dress with flats, of course.
White dress with flats and the white pencil skirt with the white blouse
Love outfit number 4.
These are beautiful outfits – however, here’s the thing……….I’m 5’5″, small frame with size 36G breasts. I cannot wear a lot of the styles pictured without looking “fat”. I am not fat – but my boobs are! LOL I shop for clothing that compliments my figure as-is. I’m not ashamed to have big boobs but oh, to be able to wear an “itty-bitty-titty” top just once! 🙂
Number 8. Navy top, jeans and flat sandals.
