Paris apartments seem to innately know how to enliven white walls. Such is the way of Parisian decor to take something so simple – a seemingly basic white wash – and electrify a room. The dance that occurs is one of elegance, yet simplicity. Something I can never seem to get enough as is evidence in my own home. Last May, an article in The Wall Street Journal tackled just this subject – searching for that perfect Parisian cream wall color. And while, yes, there is a difference between white and cream, there is also, as my fellow DIYers will testify, a million different shades of each.

And so today’s Decor Inspiration is an homage to how basic wall colors can create a powerful aesthetic. When paired with exquisite moldings, high ceilings, original photography, strong finishing textures (marble and wood flooring) and French windows, who wouldn’t say no to staying in such grand interiors?

Interior designers Gilles & Boissier rejuvenated today’s Decor Inspiration destination – a 19th century Paris apartment. Enjoy the tour.
