  1. Being a Scandinavian it’s so fascinating to see how our lifestyle and concept of “hygge” (“kos” in my language Norwegian) is spreading these days. In essence the same thing as the french “petits plaisirs” and the british “cuppa” we Scandinavians we enjoy our moments of “hygge”, with an added dimension of wool and warmth. I think the months of cold and dark weather we live through every year has forced us to create pockets of light and warmth through our days and I’m touched to see that our values are given attention around the world. Growing up I took this for granted but as a grown up I have learned to appreciate it even more. Thank you for spreading the concept, Shannon.

  2. I love the concept of “hygge” and would enjoy hearing the ways that you integrate this idea into your every day amidst the winter season. Here in Utah, it is currently 7 degrees. We need some cozy practices! For myself, I enjoy warm baths at the end of day. Soft throws. A fire. Lighting candles. Enjoying a warming dinner. Gathering with friends. How about you?

  3. I´m Swedish and almost 5 months in darkness is tough. So lighting is really important! That is probably why we light candles as much as we can, even for a simple Tuesday dinner! And electric lights are really popular, right now the balconies in my apartmentbuilding are all decorated with lights even though the Xmas themed ones are gone. Every evening as I come home I light tealights (loads of them) and cuddle up under a blanket in my sofa with a mug of tea. That little ritual clears my mind and make my evening easier, even as I hardly see daylight during these winter months…
