 ~the recipe for Midnight Crackles~

The holiday vacation has officially begun, and not a moment too soon. Time to don the santa cap, turn up the jingle bells and revel in the holiday spirit. I must say, the past three weeks has passed in the blink of an eye, but I am eager for holiday gatherings, time to ignore the clock altogether and days to dream about what I wish to make a reality in 2014.

While snow has reluctantly decided not to visit the Pacific Northwest just yet, I’m hoping that soon we will see Mother Nature’s white decoration. I have been thoroughly loving the images on my Instragram of New Yorkers enjoying the white wonderland this past week and for now, that will have to do.

This weekend you will find me wrapping, baking and doing stocking stuffer shopping as I complete the last minute holiday to-dos on my list. And after perusing the web, I found a few posts you might want to take a look at as you too finish up your holiday preparations:

~40 Brown Paper Wrapping Gift Ideas . . . my favorite wrapping paper of choice!

~Stress-Free Holiday Entertaining Tips from Rachel Khoo . . . love her, couldn’t help but share these tips.

And while I am incredibly giddy about Christmas’ arrival, I am just as excited for the downtime after the 25th. I have stacks of books, resolutions to make, and a brief vacation to get away and just relax.

And being someone who loves to have my goals and dreams I have made written down and easily accessible no matter where I am, as well as having a place to write my thoughts and ideas down as they come to me, I always enjoy picking up a new journal for the new year. As I mentioned at the beginning of 2013, there are many good reasons to keep a journal (click here to read), so why not treat yourself to a luxurious simple gift of a journal to keep track of your dreams and worries, vent your frustrations and disperse of your fears, as well as be a catalog of your life to look back on as you continue to change and evolve into your best self? Today I have gathered together a few journals you might like, but if you’re like me, you’re going to want to pick one up in person. Either way, perhaps you’ll be inspired to begin 2014 with intention. After all, we must know what we want in order to arrive at our destination.

  1. What a lovely post, thank you Shannon. We have a little art shop so I’m madly wrapping at the moment for customers, I use brown craft paper so the wrapping ideas will be of great help. I’ll go clip my lush rosemary plant before work on Monday.

I hope you get your snow soon. We are look forward to a perfect summer’s day on Christmas Day — 26C, blue and fine.

  2. Lovely post Shannon. I was just thinking about what kind of journal I want for this year. I clicked on choice number 6 and even more pleasantly surprised to see they are a UK company 😉
    Have a wonderful Christmas x
