Regardless of one’s politics, I couldn’t help but take note when long time allies, the United States and France, met at the White House Tuesday night for a State Dinner. After all, all things French tend to catch my eye. But when First Lady Michelle Obama stepped out onto the North Portico entrance of the White House with the President in her floor sweeping gown to greet the French head of state, my smile was immediate.
With a state dinner honoring French President François Hollande, the First Lady chose a Carolina Herrera gown which embodied many French aesthetics. In a press release, Herrera confirmed she had made the dress for the First Lady in her atelier, and with its aptly named Liberty blue train and skirt (which is akin to French blue in my book), paired with a black beaded bodice, the First Lady may have detoured from her expected silhouette style, but she looked equally radiant and stunning.
One of my favorite looks on her. Very classy and elegant.
A really elegant and gorgeous dress. She wears it well.
That gown is stunning! The First Lady is tall too, which helps her carry it off so well.
Perfection!
Thank you Shannon! I would not have seen that because such a meeting wouldn’t make international news. Ms Obama is a stunning lady who always looks classy and elegant. There is certainly a soupcon of French there, a very graceful compliment along with firm American independence.
That blue is such a gorgeous colour.
I think this is one of my favorite looks on the first lady! Absolutely fabulous!!
