~Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert
Debuting on September 22nd, Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert has a new book, Big Magic, that has my curiosity piqued. Sharing her wisdom and experience of tapping into each our own sources of creativity, she illuminates the mystical access to inspiration. And if you’re in the Bend area on November 13th, you will want to pick up tickets to her event at Bend High. You can bet, I’ll be there and will share my experience.
~Voracious: A Hungry Reader Cooks Her Way through Great Books by Cara Nicoletti
Pulled from the pages of the most beloved books classic and modern, blogger and now author Cara Nicoletti, shares recipes found in books beginning with Little House on the Prairie to Goldfinch to Pride and Prejudice. Wanting to bring people together and recognizing that books and foods have a powerful way of both doing just that, she paired the two more than seven years ago and has been enjoying the journey (and cooking) ever since. Be sure to check out her blog Yummy Books for regular updates on more recent recipes from her favorite books.
During the summer, I had the opportunity to visit the local farmer’s markets and found a booth selling homemade pasta from Silverton, Oregon. As someone who always tends to flavor sauces with lemon, I bought a package of the Lemon Garlic. Let me just say, the flavor was tremendously bountiful. As the label states, cooks need not actually add sauce if they’d prefer not to because of the immense amount of flavor in the pasta. Infused with healthy, flavorful ingredients and often straight from owners’ Pati & George Harris and Julie & Wayne Huisman’s gardens, you will be delighted with your purchase.

~recipe for Tamarind & Lemon Tart with Salted Peanut Praline~
Fantastic rain fell on Thursday, and it was then that I knew it was fall. Maybe not officially, but the feeling, the coziness of sweaters, trenches and hot tea had arrived. There is something about this time of year that is ideal. Perhaps it is the enjoyment of the beauty of nature before it hibernates until next year or maybe it is the return to the full, but enjoyable daily schedule that we have each chosen for ourselves and the path we wish our lives to take. Whatever it might be, I do hope you have a wonderful weekend soaking it all in and savoring every minute. May your simple luxuries be abundant! Until Monday bon Vendredi!
