For a food blog that is as utterly scintillating as it is simple and inviting in its lay-out, Mon Petit Four (which translates to “my little oven”), is a foodie’s delight. Beeta Hashempour, a professed Francophile, originally ran her own all-natural baked goods business in Laguna Beach, California, and now offers her talents to students in her own kitchen. With Julia Child as her muse, this French baker is someone whose talents I have no doubt you will enjoy.
~The Resistance Man: A Bruno, Chief of Police novel by Martin Walker
My favorite pleasure reading is a fantastic cozy mystery, preferably set in France, so when international best-selling author Martin Walker released his seventh in the Bruno, Chief of Police series earlier this year, I put his series on my wish list. Recently interviewed about his main character, Martin Walker described Bruno like this:
Bruno is a peaceful, gentle fellow who likes to cook for his friends and is aching to settle down in St. Denis. And he aches to settle down with and be faithful to a woman who wants to bear his children and help share his vegetable garden, his horse and ducks and hens, and his reluctance to have a TV set in his house.
Intriguing, n’est-ce pas? Learn more about the series here.
If you’re looking for a radio station that plays a variety of jazz music, specifically a few French options, check out Jazzradio.com and select their Paris Cafe. Not only will you be able to work without distraction, but you’ll learn a bit of French as well.
Get ready to pay steady reductions on top designer clothing. Amuze is a new online retailer that alerts shoppers to flash sales. While you must be a member (it’s free), it is similar to Gilt or other member’s only sites, as you can earn $25 when you refer a friend. A few fantastic finds: Saint Laurent nude tote slashed 70%, a simple silk/cotton tank from Carolina Herrera reduced to $89 from $495 and a sleeveless white dress with piping.
Through Monday August 25th, enjoy 25% off most of J.Crew’s online store (new items as well). Simply use the promo code SHOPNOW and save. A few lovely discoveries:
Running through Sunday August 24th, if you are in the need of a few essential undergarments, but Spanx prices slow you down a bit (although, I do believe they are worth the investment), this sale is not one to miss. With traditional SPANX shape wear and hosiery as well as sport and swimwear reduced 30%, be sure to stop by.
The weekend arrives and with it an event I have been wanting to attend for a handful of years – a farm-to-table evening pairing one of my favorite Walla Walla valley wineries with one of my favorite local chefs at Welcome Table Farm. And while I doubt a lush Victorian sofa will be our seating, I have no doubt, it will be lovely as the weather looks like it will cooperate. Be sure to follow me on Instagram as I will try to share as much as I can.
This week felt a bit surreal here on the blog, and it all began with this post. To my lovely readers, I am so very grateful.
And while we all step away from our work this weekend, let it be a time to celebrate, appreciate and relax. As you are doing so, here are a few articles you might enjoy . . . until Monday, bonjour.
